NHS consultants are allowed to refer patients to the private hospitals they get money from

It has been reported 371 NHS consultants have shares in private hospitals, where they can refer patients when waiting times are too high. There are concerns as to whether this would evoke a conflict of interest in whether they go with patients’ best interests or their own financial gain.
