675 NHS staff in Gloucestershire to transfer to separate company after behind-closed-doors meeting

Almost 700 non-clinical staff working at NHS hospitals in Gloucestershire will be moved to a new subsidiary company.

The final decision on the proposals was taken in a behind-closed-doors meeting of the Board of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and follows weeks of protests and concerns about the plan.

In all, 675 support staff in non-clinical areas including estates and facilities, sterile services and materials management will be moved to a new commercial company from April 1.

The trust wanted to set up the company, which will be wholly NHS owned, to save money on tax.
