Record breaking child waiting lists forces CCG to seek extra providers

There is a backlog of about 1,800 under 18s waiting to be assessed in Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Cases include one person having waited 122 weeks for an assessment – the average wait is a staggering 67 weeks. The CCG awarded a seven-year contract worth £166 million for autism assessment services in 2018, to group of Devon’s NHS providers and independent provider Livewell South West. The CCG is trying to reduce these waiting times by trying to find a new provider of autism assessment services.
