G4S and Kent’s non-emergency ambulance service

G4S has a string of missing targets behind them regarding their performance with Kent’s non-emergency ambulance services. The company took over from NSL in 2016 with a £90m contract and provide free, non-emergency transport for people who are unable to get to and from hospitals in Medway and Kent.

However, patients have complained about missing appointments due to a lack of drivers to meet the high demand of patients. Getting to appointments on time has a target success rate of 95%, yet in March 2018, G4S were operating on only 71%. Complaints say pick up times are regularly changed in a day, and patients are not always ready to be collected.
