NHS forks out £181m to send patients with severe mental health problems into private care

The NHS is funding private healthcare providers an astounding £181m a year to send patients with severe mental health problems to care units that can reside hundreds of miles from their homes. This has not only left them isolated from distressed family members, but also helpless as their symptoms are likely to worsen as a result of these circumstances.
