HSJ reports that Clinical Partners Limited and Psychiatry UK, two private companies that offer outsourced NHS assessments for ADHD and autism, have seen huge increases in income.
The companies’ steep growth comes amid high and rising waiting times for neurological disorders, particularly ADHD and autism, including for children, since the pandemic.
Clinical Partners Limited, which provides a range of mental health, autism and ADHD services, has reported turnover up by more than half, from £14.5m to £22.7m in 2023. The documents said a “significant” proportion of this came from the NHS.
Meanwhile, Psychiatry UK, the largest private provider of online mental health services, which also provides services to the NHS, saw income doubled year-on-year, from £17.6m to £38.1m, in the latest financial year.
The company’s directors’ report said: “The business has experienced rapid growth by partnering with the NHS to meet significant and rising demand for NHS services.” It added that the firm was “well placed to help manage its growing waiting list in all areas of mental health”.
Clinical Partners is often hired by NHS mental health and community trusts to help with ADHD and autism assessment backlogs. Publicly available data suggests its biggest single NHS customer is Leeds Community Healthcare Trust. Clinical Partners’ gross profit grew in line with its increased income and it said it was seeking further expansion.
