Campaigners urge council for Brighton General Hospital to remain a public asset

Hundreds of people have signed the petition against the sale of the Brighton General Hospital site – the plan is to protest outside Hove Town Hall and then hand in the petition to Brighton and Hove City Council on 25 July. A huge concern is Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust’s plan to build a new health hub on part of this site and the rest of the site (11 acres) will be sold/ leased for housing to fund the health hub building. Campaigners are urging Brighton and Hove City Council to “ensure housing built on this site includes housing for social rent and key workers and addresses the needs of homeless people in the city”.
