Private firm’s £25m deal halted by threat of legal action by NHS providers

Halton CCG has abandoned a procurement process for contracts worth £25m following the threat of legal action by local NHS organisations. The CCG had chosen as its preferred bidder to run two urgent treatment centres, One Primary Care, part of One Medical Group.

Concerns had been expressed by local GP practices involved in a joint bid for the contracts with other NHS providers, as well as local MPs.

The centres in Runcorn and Widnes are currently run by Warrington and Halton Hospitals Foundation Trust and Bridgewater Community Healthcare FT, respectively.
