New transparency row over missing £91mn PPE contract

The Metro reports that a £91million contract between the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and a Chinese PPE firm was only published a day after the Government was told it was missing from an open register. The heavily-redacted document had not been attached to a five-month-old award notice issued by the DHSC. The order for surgical gowns intended for the NHS supply chain was among billions of pounds of PPE ordered at speed by the DHSC as it responded to shortages during the first months of the pandemic.
